Police Blotter: Medical Episode May Have Led to Crash at Applebee's

Police and paramedics responded to the Route 70 restaurant Monday afternoon

Police responded to the Manchester Applebee's parking lot Monday afternoon after a driver appeared to suffer a medical episode and struck another car.

Alvina M. Bigos, 79, was traveling through the lot of the Route 70 restaurant at about 12:30 p.m. in a 2012 Toyota Yaris when she "may have had a medical condition" which caused her to impact a 2010 Hyundai belonging to a township resident, said Manchester police Capt. Lisa Parker.

"The impact was at slow speed and with little visible damage," Parker said.

Bigos was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River for medical attention. Her son, who was also in the car, was uninjured, the captain said.

Paramedics from the Manchester First Aid and Rescue Squad and MONOC responded to the scene. Patrolman Douglas Higgins of the police department's Traffic Safety Section is investigating the crash, according to Parker.
