Police: Jackson Man Stole Metal Poles from Manchester Liquor Store

Joint investigation with state police led to burglary and theft charges

A joint investigation by Manchester and New Jersey State Police officers led to the arrest of a Jackson man that authorities allege stole materials from a Manchester liquor store.

Thomas J. Musto IV, a 19-year-old from Jackson, was charged with burglary and theft following an investigation by authorities, said Capt. Lisa Parker.

Manchester officers responded to Ridgeway Plaza Wines and Liquors on Sunday evening after receiving a call from a "concerned citizen" who saw a vehicle parked near the store's dumpster with its doors open, Parker said.

"A check of the building exterior did not result in the officers noting anything missing or damaged," Parker said.

On Monday, Manchester police were notified by New Jersey State Police at the Hamilton barracks that, while at a residence in their jurisdiction for an unrelated investigation, they may have come across property stolen from the liquor store, Parker said.

Manchester police Detective Craig Beaulieu conducted a joint investigation with state officers. Musto was then charged with burglary and the theft of metal poles from within a locked fence behind the store, according to Parker.

Musto was taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River and held on $1,500 bail, Parker said.
