Manchester Police arrest three individuals during late hours of Nov. 17

The Manchester Township Police Department reported making three arrests yesterday for burglary, theft and DWI charges, though the incidents are not related.

Arrests for Burglary & Theft Charges

On Nov. 17, 2011 at 4:19 a.m., police reported that Ptl. Patrick Cervenak observed a vehicle exiting the parking lot of the Mid-Jersey Supply Company, located at 2486 Ridgeway Blvd. Ptl. Cervenak proceeded to stop the vehicle with purpose to speak with its occupants; Jackson residents Kevin Bogurski, 21, and Kenneth Wickham, 22, to discover what they were doing in the area.

During the stop, a large quantity of copper wiring was observed by the officer in the rear passenger compartment of the vehicle, police noted. Ptl. Adam Guker, who was assisting at the scene, determined that the copper wiring had been stolen from an adjacent property belonging to the Commercial Drying Technologies Company. It was learned that that two suspects had entered this property, and cut power cords from several industrial drying units. Also recovered from the vehicle was a quantity of collector’s coins, a large quantity of keys, brass water meters, a brass construction name plate, electronics, a gift card, office paraphernalia and scrap metal.

The investigation led to the discovery that these recovered items were proceeds from multiple burglaries and thefts which occurred at the construction compound of the River Point development, located across the street from Commercial Drying Technologies. Also seized from the vehicle were drug paraphernalia and burglary tools. A 2002 Hyundai Elantra belonging to Bogurski was also seized as a result of the investigation.

Both Bogurski and Wickham were charged with three counts of burglary, three counts of theft, one count of criminal attempted theft, two counts of criminal mischief and one count of possession of burglary tools. Bogurski was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Bogurski and Wickham were subsequently lodged in the Ocean County Jail, on default of $75,000 bail each with no 10% option.

DWI Arrest

On Nov. 17, 2011, at approximately 11:11 p.m., Ptl Christian Nazario stopped two suspicious persons dressed in dark clothing, who were walking on Route 70 near the entrance to Leisure Village West. This is the same gated senior citizen community where two subjects had climbed the fence last week and stole a car.

While investigating what the subjects were doing on foot in the area, Ptl. Nazario learned that the two subjects had been on their cell phones attempting to find a ride from the area. Police noted that Ptl. Nazario waited with the subjects for their ride to arrive, so that he could question the driver about why the subjects were getting picked up.

A brief time later, their ride arrived in a 1994 Mazda M6 operated by 26 year-old Kristina Fletcher, of Greenview Way in Toms River. Upon speaking with the driver, Ptl. Nazario determined that Fletcher had been operating the vehicle while intoxicated and she was subsequently placed under arrest for DWI, police reported. The driver was also found to be in possession of a synthetic form of marijuana, commonly known as K-2 Spice, and drug paraphernalia. In addition, the driver had an outstanding warrant for her arrest out of Beachwood in the amount of $1,084.

During the course of his investigation, Ptl Nazario learned that the two subjects walking on Route 70 were not involved in any criminal activity. Instead, they had just left a relative’s home located in Leisure Village West, police said.

Earlier last week, a Chevrolet Monte Carlo was stolen from Leisure Village West by two subjects who had scaled the perimeter fence to the gated retirement community. Manchester Police later spotted the stolen car traveling on Beckerville Road and the suspects were arrested.
