Police: Manchester Lowe's Cashier Stole Credit Cards and Wallets

An Ocean Gate woman faces multiple theft charges after she allegedly stole from shoppers at the ShopRite and Lowe's in Manchester Plaza. 

Police arrested Lauren A. Hand, a 23-year-old cashier, on Dec. 7 after she allegedly took cash from customer credit cards and lifted wallets from shoppers at the nearby , said Capt. Lisa Parker. 

As a cashier at the home improvement store, Parker said that during November and into December Hand retained customer credit cards after purchases were made and later used them to make withdrawls from a local ATM.

Hand was charged with four counts of credit card theft, four counts of theft by deception and four counts of computer criminal activity, according to Parker.

A manager at Lowe's reached by phone Thursday afternoon declined to comment on Hand's arrest.

Parker said that Hand also was charged with two counts of theft after she allegedly stole two wallets from the shopping carts of customers in the ShopRite on two days in November.

Parker said that Hand was released pending a court date.
