Police: Nearly $1,800 of Cigarettes Stolen from Whiting Gas Station

Police said the burglary happened early Sunday morning

A Whiting gas station was burglarized over the weekend, as an unknown number of suspects made off with nearly $1,800 worth of cigarettes, police said.

According to Manchester Police Capt. Lisa Parker, the Jersey Gas located at 100 Lacey Road in the township's Whiting section was broken into sometime late Saturday night or Sunday morning after a window air conditioner was removed. 

About 250 packs of various brands of cigarettes were stolen, totalling $1,791, though other valuables were not taken, police said.

The clear plastic cigarette display case was removed, apparently with the use of a sledgehammer, according to police.

Police urge anyone with information related to the burglary to contact Detective Richard Mazza at 732-657-2009, ext. 4204.
