Raid Of Ocean County Doctor's Office Is Underway, Prosecutors Say

The Ocean County Special Operations Group is raiding a doctor's office for selling illegal prescription pills, according to Prosecutor Joseph Coronato.

Coronator said pills are "the precursor to the heroin problem. It all starts with pills and we are going there."

"Our strategy of holding street drug dealers accountable includes health care professionals – doctors, pharmacists and others who look to profit from selling powerful illegal prescription pills in our county," he said. "If we're going to stop the deaths in Ocean County I must attack the problem on all fronts."

Patch will add to this report once more information becomes available.

What doctor???
Don Gottwerth January 24, 2014 at 12:35 PM
Pipe dream if he thinks it will stop the deaths per se. These addicts will not stop, because society praises the lifestyles and the daily doses of political environment from today's leadership in the White House gives no leadership from the helm.

And what about getting the heroin off of the streets?

need to get to the root of the problem...what makes people cross the line and do drugs that they know that they will be addicted to and eventually turn them into criminals and kill them. People can blame doctors all they want, but it isn't going to solve the problem of people wanting to alter their state of being.

Nice typo: "Coronator". I like it. "The Coronator".
Michelle Nugent January 24, 2014 at 03:11 PM
ok...so apparently this was not a "good" doctor...based on what other reports are saying! He gives good doctors a bad name for sure.

Great job, its about time, there are alot of addicts in this world, addiction is not only is drug related, what about drinking, shopping, gambling, sex, smoking, food...they are called addictions, the problem is people lack coping skills, lets stop judging and start finding a solution..
WTF?! January 24, 2014 at 11:44 PM
How bout telling us the name if the doctor so we know to avoid him!!!
Carol January 25, 2014 at 02:09 PM
There are lots of doctors that doll out prescriptions for meds when they shouldn't be. Drug users know who they are and where they are. There should be someone watching the amount of prescriptions given out and to whom.

Nice! Joey joe!!!!

Just have to wonder what sort of practice Dr Holca had... Looked him up and it looks like he went to a Medical School in Romania...then served his residency in NJ at St Joe's (which I think is up near Paterson) and Robert Wood (which I think is in New Brunswick) -- Maybe it's just me, but I prefer MD's who went to Medical School in the good ole US of A.
anne greene January 28, 2014 at 09:13 PM
Joey joe....he was "family, MD". He also is licensed to prescribe suboxone! So this way he was able to make fortunes of charging cash for all the patients he got dependent on opiates! He gave em the drug and then antidote! Now, all his suboxone patients now need to scramble for a new doctor before they run out of medicine!
grace January 30, 2014 at 12:16 PM
yikes and real patients who have pain are treated like they are in a gang...
Joey Joe January 30, 2014 at 07:05 PM
@Grace - I totally agree with you re: feeling like a gang member when going to the Rx to fill a script for pain killer meds. I recently had to have two wisdom teeth pulled and needed to see an Oral Surgeon because my Dentist said that it would be a difficult extraction dur to the roots being wrapped around bone... After the Oral Surgeon was done with me he handed me a script for antibiotics and Hydrocodone... I really felt like I was doing something wrong when I went to fill the Rx's....and it was completely legit... I only needed to take one of the pain pills the first day after the surgery, and got rid of the rest....

Just so you know there is a full time person in newark that knows every control drug filled by who, by what dr. Very few states do not participate. Prescription monitoring prgram no one can out smart it. So we are doing our best. We haven't cured the common cold yet have.

Maruca Failed My IQ Test is better name for a person who spouts nonsense. Mr. I hate Liberals, are you collecting your social security, got your Medicare Part A & B and your prescription plan? Or if you are a child who likes to spout nonsense? Are you going to off yourself rather than collect on any of those safety-net programs that LIBERALS provided for you? No! You 're probably already standing in line for your free cheese. Maruca & Kelaher are right-wing teabagger Gilmore machine Republicans. They steal from the poor, the not so poor and the half dozen members of the middle class that are left to feed their insatiable appetite. The Prosecutors office is full of Christie want-to-bes who couldn't stop traffic on a bridge if the had an unlimited supply of orange cones and a staff of corrupt Port Authority Rent-a-cops. Call people names like the child you are but you wouldn't know a liberal if you fell over them.
