Report: Manchester First Aid Squad Sees Increase in Calls

Monthly report was delivered to the Township Council last week

After a two month decline in the amount of service calls received, Manchester first aid personnel saw an uptick in the number of incidents requiring their assistance in June.

The Manchester First Aid and Rescue squad responded to 218 calls for emergency medical service in June, according to a report prepared by publicity officer Edward Lynch and delivered to the last week. In May, the squad responded to 185 calls.

An increase in calls meant that the squad's ambulances and First Responder Unit drove 2,403 miles throughout Manchester's nearly 83 square miles of land in June, according to the report, compared to 2,169 miles of travel in May.

More calls in June meant that man hours spent by responders increased by 306, as volunteers put in 808 hours, compared to 502 in May, according to Lynch.

"That's a lot of miles," said council President Craig Wallis when he commended Lynch and the other volunteers for their work during his report. "The amount of time you put in deserves to be recognized."
