An armed robber remains on the loose after a late-night robbery at the Exxon station at Route 70 and Whitesville Road this weekend, Toms River Police said.

A man walked into the store at the gas station aroundΒ 1:15 a.m. Saturday, said Toms River Police Detective Louis Santora, brandishedΒ a handgun and demanded cash from the clerk.Β

"The clerk complied and the assailant left without further incident," said Santora.

The armed robber, described as a white male, about six feet tall wearing a black ball cap with a white front panel that contained a dark colored logo, was last seen running west down Route 70 from the store, police said.

The man had on a dark colored long sleeve shirt with white lettering on the front, dark colored pants and dark colored footwear. A dark-colored bandana covered his face, said Santora.

The initial officers on scene set up a perimeter and called in the department's K-9 unit, which included Officer Kyle Martucci and his partner, Cyrus, and Officer Buhowski and his partner Gunnar, said Santora. The dogs tracked to an undisclosed location, though no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information on the robbery is being asked to contact Santora at 732-349-0150, ext. 1276.
