Run For Teddy 5k Raises Funds For Ailing Manchester Teen

Officers from Manchester Township Police were out in force recently at Harry Wright Lake to support the 2nd annual Run for Teddy 5K, a benefit for a local teen battling leukemia.

Event participants and sponsors raised more than $3,000 for Teddy Adams and his family and a new scholarship fund to benefit a Manchester Township High School senior.

The Manchester PBA 246 presented a check for $800 to Teddy, who was joined at the Saturday run by members of Manchester Township Police: Detective Adam Emmons, Special Officer Casey McPartlin, Patrolman Doug Higgins, Patrolman Patrick Cervenak, Patrolman Michael Steffen, Patrolman Charles Gatnarek, Lieutenant Robert Dolan and Patrolman Richard Chevrier.

A total of 64 runners participated in the 5K race and another 18 in the one-mile fun run, according to race director Crystle Skinner.

"Teddy is slowing regaining his strength, and this season the teen was able to rejoin his beloved baseball team for the first time since his diagnosis," she said.
