Tinton Falls Man, 57, Dies In Manchester Crash

A 57-year-old Tinton Falls man was killed Thursday in a two-vehicle crash in Manchester, police said.

Donald W. Labella was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

At 1:07 p.m, a 1994 Toyota 4-Runner, operated by Lee R Chism, 30, of Pennsauken, was traveling west on Route 70 when his vehicle crossed the center line and entered the eastbound lane, police said.

The vehicle struck a 2000 Plymouth Grand Voyager driven eastbound by Labella, police said.

The initial impact was head on. Chism, who was traveling alone, was transported to Jersey Shore University Hospital, Neptune, to be treated for arms and chest injuries.

Goodman, who was traveling with Labella, was transported to the same hospital and treated for a leg injury, police said.

Assisting at the scene were the Whiting Volunteer Fire Department, Quality Medical Transport, Whiting First Aid, MONOC Paramedics, CIU, NJ State Police, NJ DOT and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

The crash is under investigation by Ptl. Douglas Higgins, and Ptl. Thomas O’Hare of the Manchester Traffic Safety Section.
