Heroin Pusher Had Long Criminal Record

A 36-year-old Toms River man who was sentenced to nine years in state prison Friday had continual troubles with the law in recent years.

He was sentenced for possessing heroin with the intent to distribute, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.

Shondal Latimer will also get a 42-month period of parole ineligibility.

The sentencing is the result of a guilty plea by Latimer on March 12, 2012 to possession of heroin. Initially Latimer was to be sentenced in July 2012, but picked up several additional charges which brought a postponement, the prosecutor's office said.

He then pleaded guilty again on Aug. 26 to distribution and additional counts of possession.

The original offense dates are as follows: possession of CDS: 2/24/11; distribution CDS: 12/14/11; possession with intent to distribute 12/19/12; possession with intent: 03/28/12; and possession with intent to distribute 08/24/12.

The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant Prosecutor Laura Pierro.
