Manchester Man Nabbed on Drug Distribution Charge

Man had been subject of investigation into local drug activity

A Manchester man is facing drug distribution charges after an investigation was conducted by the Toms River Police Department's Special Enforcement Team, officials said.

Jerome Morris, 27, of Madison Avenue, was stopped on Fischer Boulevard in his 2009 Honda Civic on Jan. 31, leading to charges to be filed, said police spokesman Ralph Stocco.

At the time of the traffic stop, Stocco said, Morris had approximately sixteen grams of crack and powdered cocaine in his possession.

He was charged by Officer Andrew Chencharik with possession of cocaine, and possession with the intent to distribute the narcotics, Stocco said. He was initially lodged in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $75,000 cash bail, however a check of jail records Friday showed he was no longer an inmate.
