Traffic Alert: Route 37 Closure Rescheduled for Friday Night

Detours will be in effect Friday night when a portion of Route 37 at the Lakehurst Circle is closed. 

The state highway will be closed between about 8 and 9:30 p.m. near Brown Avenue. 

Detours will be in place for motorists heading in both directions. Westbound traffic on Route 37 is expected to be diverted to Colonial Drive, where motorists can then take Route 70 west and bypass the closure. Eastbound traffic can take Route 70 to Colonial Drive and rejoin Route 37.

Authorities had originally planned to close the section on Monday night, but weather concerns have forced the change to Friday.

Route 37 Bridges Suspend Scheduled Repairs

Repairs along the Route 37 corridor from Seaside Heights to Toms River were suspended in anticipation of seasonal traffic.

The state DOT said its routine maintenance program ends along the corridor on or before May 15, due to predicted increased traffic for the summer season. The ongoing repairs, which included bridge painting and lane restriping, may pick up again in the fall.
