Truck Driver Charged in Theft at ShopRite, Police Say

Hugh K. Mullin was caught in neighboring Berkeley Township, police said.

A Pennsylvania truck driver who stole a man’s jacket and iPod from ShopRite on Route 70 was arrested in Berkeley Township Sunday, Manchester Township Police said.

Hugh K. Mullin, 59, of Gouldsboro, PA, grabbed the jacket, which a vendor had set aside while stocking shelves, police said, then left the grocery store and headed to Berkeley, where Mullin was staying with a friend.

That's where Manchester Ptl. Arthur Cronk found Mullin, who confessed following the theft, police said.

Mullin was arrested and charged with theft and released on a court summons; the stolen jacket and iPod were both recovered and returned to the victim, police said.

ShopRite security and the Berkeley Township Police Department assisted Cronk in bringing in Mullin, police said.
