Whiting Man Charged after Allegedly Exposing Himself to Child

Man allegedly exposed himself and showed obscene photos to a 5-year-old at Whiting Super Stop & Shop

Video surveillanceΒ and a composite sketch led Manchester police and the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office to identify and charge a Whiting man who allegedly exposed himself to a child at a township supermarket last weekend, authorities said.

Edward Cylek, 77, of Westport Drive in Crestwood Village VII, facesΒ sexual assault and child endangerment charges after police allege he exposed himself to a 5-year-old girl who, while with her mother, was collecting donations for a local organization at the Super Stop & Shop on Lacey Road in Whiting on June 4.

"The elderly male also approached the child in the supermarket, engaged in conversation with her and showed her obscene photographs," Capt. Lisa Parker said in a release.

Video of the incident, along with a sketch drawn by Ptl. Michael Lynch, led authorities to identify Cylek as the suspect.

According to Parker, Cylek was taken to the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail, no 10 percent option.Β
