Whiting Man Unhurt in 1-Car Crash on Route 70

John Barlow hit a pole Friday night after veering off the road, police said.

A 69-year-old Whiting man escaped injury when his Cadillac slammed into a utility pole on Route 70 last week, Manchester Township Police said.

John Barlow was headed west on the highway around 10:15 p.m. Friday when he veered off the road around mile marker 43, police said, and hit the pole, snapping it in pieces.

Barlow wasn't hurt in the one-car crash, police said, and was the only one in the car.

State Department of Transportation crews re-routed traffic around the scene after the westbound lane of Route 70 had to be temporarily closed, police said.

The accident is under investigation by Ptl. Marc Micciulla of the Manchester Township Police Patrol Bureau.
