A 28-year-old pharmacy techician was charged this week with stealing hydrocodone tablets from the CVS Pharmacy on Route 530 in Whiting, police said.
An investigation revealed that Michael Weygand of Whiting had allegedly committed the thefts while working at the CVS over the past several months, police said.
After receiving word of a possible theft, officers met with the CVS loss prevention manager on Monday who told them that hydrocodone tablets were missing, police said.
The manager conducted an internal investigation and determined that Weygand allegedly had committed the thefts, police said.
Police conducted an on-scene investigation, which resulted in Weygand being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and for theft of a controlled dangerous substance.
Some of the hydrocodone tablets were found in Weygand’s possession, and at his residence, following a search, police said.
Weygand was processed and later released on a summons pending court, police said.
