Chris Christie Town Hall Rescheduled for Thursday

Sandy funding distribution will be discussed during the governor's first town hall appearance since 'Bridgegate.'

Gov. Chris Christie's 110th town hall is slated for Thursday at the Middletown VFW Post 2179 in Port Monmouth.

The event marks Christie's first town hall appearance since the George Washington Bridge lane closure scandal unraveled in January. The session had to be rescheduled twice due to the series of snow storms that have blanketed the state.

Christie and members of his administration will discuss the distribution of federal Superstorm Sandy funding. Following the town hall session, a Christie Administration Mobile Cabinet will remain on site to meet with affected residents and answer Sandy-related questions regarding housing and business assistance programs.

Doors open at 10 a.m., with the event starting at 12:30 p.m. Seating is on a first come, first serve basis and open to the public. No bags are permitted in the venue. Residents may RSVP for the session at TownHall.Middletown@gov.state.nj.us.

FL4LIFE, Graciousness, is anyone capable of discerning hyperbole used to make a point. That said, the stream of articles suggesting all the bad things the Governor has done, and loads of subpoenas AT THE TAXPAYERS' EXPENSE have proven nothing. Yet the Governor is guilty until he can prove a negative. Unless that's the standard you hold ever politician to, it's hypocrisy. And yes, I voted for Christie. He's as conservative as we can get in NJ. But I'm a Ted Cruz, Rand Paul gal, myself.

@Shif Hmmm GOP/Baggers don't yell and call names huh? lol Who was that in YOUR party that yelled at the Prez "You lie" while giving his speech?..Now that showed class on behalf of YOUR party, to bad the class is all LOW. The bottom line is YOUR party LOST and will lose yet again with the likes of Christie and lets look down the bench at who YOU have on it..Paul? Rubio? Ryan? Bush? and my fav Cruz? hmmmm im thinking the earliest YOUR party may see the WH is 2024 MAYBE....NEXT!
Nancy February 19, 2014 at 11:04 AM
Eyes wide shut, Nice to see you wear your agenda on your sleeve. Too bad you don't use that energy to seek truth.
FL4LIFE February 19, 2014 at 11:32 AM
hahaha nancy rand paul and cruz are a joke. they slam entitlements meanwhile receive the best health benefits, insane salaries, and will receive a ridiculous pension all on the tax payers dime. they are the definition of hypocrites, saying it's unfair for 60k salaried workers to get these entitlements but have no problem collecting them for themselves. im no democrat but at least the liberals politicians dont pretend to hate entitlements while collecting them for themselves.
FL4LIFE February 19, 2014 at 11:43 AM
nancy- i do believe in innocent until proven guilty. however innocent clean people can easily prove their innocence by being open and sharing the information they have, christie is not acting like an innocent man. most innocent people when convicted will be very open to prove they are innocent and help with the investigation to retain their good name as quickly as possible. they dont hide information until they are forced to share it by law.
Nancy February 19, 2014 at 11:44 AM
And again, FlL4LIFE, you missed the point. I wasn't looking for a diatribe on Paul and Cruz. I was merely pointing out that I am not a Christie-pile. I am a conservative. I don't feel the need to run from it. I find it interesting that liberals always deny the label, while their words and actions tell otherwise. Hey, have a standard that you can claim without embarrassment. But be sure you can apply that standard across the board.
Ridgewood Mom February 19, 2014 at 11:46 AM
Shut up, idiot! Yelling and calling names is Christie's job. Hahahaha!!!
Citizen of America February 19, 2014 at 11:50 AM
I am shocked -- shocked! -- to hear that bullying and name-calling and bullying is going on with respect to Gov Christie.
letsgetreal February 19, 2014 at 11:52 AM
I am a conservative...and not ashamed...but what I am ashamed of his how our Gov. is acting and how he has acted in the last few months. And his handling of Sandy Relief has been a downright disgrace. Even though I am a staunch Republican...I have enough back bone to admit I am not happy with Christie even if he is a Republican. Just sayin
Nancy February 19, 2014 at 11:52 AM
I don't know what Christie has withheld. I know that young staff members have had to secure council, out of pocket, and they may be following council's advice. But the pockets of those making all the accusations are deep, to the point of limitless, because we are paying for it, and they've turned up nothing. So they keep digging. Hmmm... wonder if their offices could survive such scrutiny.
Nancy February 19, 2014 at 12:05 PM
Letsgetreal, if you are conservative, as am I, my guess is that Christie disappointed you a while ago. I know I have been disappointed. But, records have shown a very even-handed distribution of Sandy funds. Communities were grouped by size, population and damage, and that determined dollar amounts. Hoboken actually got more in one area than some others, because of insinuating circumstances. Can't remember the details. FEMA has had a very slow, and uneven-handed response, and I know Christie's office has got slammed for it by citizens (who might not know better) and the press (who should).

Someone please ask him - when on an endless waiting list for RREM, waiting months for SHRAP appointment and home is being foreclosed on what should people do?
FL4LIFE February 19, 2014 at 12:18 PM
nancy, i am not a liberal, i am a true libertarian. i support guys like gary johnson who practice what they preach. not phonies like cruz and paul. i only said at least liberal politicians dont put down entitlements when collecting them for themselves. cruz and paul are bunch of hypocrites.
Nancy February 19, 2014 at 12:34 PM
Ok, F4L, I'll take you at your word. I like Gary Johnson as well, especially as a guest on RedEye. I don't think he would agree with your statement about liberal politicians not be hypocritical on entitlements, but that's besides the point. I don't think his office could walk away from this level of scrutiny unscathed (unless the Lord returns to rule, no one could) and I don't know if many of his followers would hold him to that kind of scrutiny. My only point is, the standard should be the same across the board. The hard Right is in bed with the Left, but be sure, the Left sure won't respect them in the morning when the target will be Cruz or Paul. People need to have a standard, not an agenda.
BellairBerdan February 19, 2014 at 12:58 PM
If your standard is to leave Christie alone, Nancy, you have an agenda.
Nancy February 19, 2014 at 01:20 PM
I don't know how anyone could infer, "Leave him alone" from what I've said. But at some point, when nothing has been turned up, they have to stop spending OUR money. The level of investigation is pure nonsense, and no one is holding the accusers accountable for how they are spending our money. Just look at the list of subpoenas that have been issued, including duplications and to very low level employees, each done by law firms at billable hours. There's no oversee on the overseers, the attorneys have hit the money tree, and the public doesn't seem to be aware of how the 'investigation' is being 'managed.' My only agenda is truth and integrity. And the truth is, either there is no smoking gun, or the investigators are inept. Or greedy?
BellairBerdan February 19, 2014 at 01:48 PM
Nancy i get the first impression when you said "they've turned up nothing" before any of the subpeonas have been answered, or when you only brought up the cost of layers for accusers and not Christie's $650 an hour lawyer ( when if there was nothing going on he could have just brought them into the office and asked what happened), Or when you declared the truth was only 3 things, none of them being guilt.
sig February 19, 2014 at 02:00 PM
Nancy, if you haven't seen that one subpoena has led to another and that they keep turning up new information, then you haven't been following the story! Although much of the information has actually been turned up by reporters and the committe has been following those leads more than their own.
Nancy February 19, 2014 at 02:29 PM
Subpoenas have been answered. By many of the employees. The fact that there is no smoking gun so far points to not guilty. Legally that doesn't mean innocent. But they cannot capriciously continue to hand out subpoenas requiring lower-level employees to hire counsel. And wouldn't it be silly for Chris Christie to not hire counsel, given the big guns that are taking aim at him. My point is not to defend Chris Christie, But to severely criticized the process.
Citizen of America February 19, 2014 at 02:31 PM
The BridgeGate investigations have been going on for less than 4 months. I'm sure Nancy was bitterly upset when the Ken Starr Whitewater investigations lasted 4 1/2 YEARS and cost taxpayers $80 MILLION. Bitterly. Upset. http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/stories/1999/04/01/counsel.probe.costs/
Nancy February 19, 2014 at 02:38 PM
I thought Ken Star was ridiculous, and that was long before I was what you would call an informed voter. I guess you could say I had a standard for a long time.
sig February 19, 2014 at 03:00 PM
Nancy, not guilty? I'm assuming you mean no smoking gun for Christie, but they've got enough on quite a few others. They're not nearly done. Wildstein, DCOS, and campaign mgr definitely; if Baroni had been under oath when he testified. The cover-up is going to be more painful for them in the guilt department than what they did in the first place. I'm sure they'll all get deals, but they have enough guilt proven that they have to keep investigating.
Nancy February 19, 2014 at 04:22 PM
Of course I mean Chris Christie. The only use they have for the Three Musketeers is how they can be used to hurt Chris Christie. And trust me, if any of them had anything that would hurt Chris Christie, they would've been granted immunity already.
Ridgewood Mom February 19, 2014 at 07:22 PM
Did Christie really postpone the town hall because of the weather? On Tuesday he was busy attending a swank upscale fundraiser at the Harvard Club in Manhattan. http://outfront.blogs.cnn.com/2014/02/18/chris-christieattends-private-fundraiser-postpones-town-hall/
Nancy February 19, 2014 at 07:58 PM
The State House had a delayed opening, so he had to cancel the town hall. The Harvard Club was later. Not a big juggle, even for a guy. (Women, especially mothers, do it all the time.)
Citizen of America February 19, 2014 at 10:16 PM
Similarly "informed voters" on the right supported Newt Gingrich and his "Contract with America" in 1994. They were all about reducing the size of government and stopping "runaway government spending." And then they heartily supported Ken Starr's $80 million witch hunt against Bill Clinton. As usual, it all depends on whose ox is being gored.

"Impeach Christie.."
mareceymorgan@ymail.com February 20, 2014 at 09:18 AM
Seems like the only thing you can still bully people about is their weight. What a bunch of incosiderate losers we have posting on this page especially F4L. By the way I am so sick and tired of the libs with this whole investigation NOT ONE TINY BIT OF EVIDENCE has been found and my tax money is paying for this crap. All we have is hersay after months of spending my money. Those of you whole believe this crap are the same nut cases that vote for the tax and spend liberals every year and it is why my property taxes in Woodbridge have more than trippled in last 15 years.
mareceymorgan@ymail.com February 20, 2014 at 09:20 AM
By the way I am NOT a repbulican before you go there I am a registered Dem but really have been embarrassed by my own party in this state.
Nancy February 20, 2014 at 10:04 AM
Mareceymorgan, Thank You. Because I'm conservative, I think people thought I was defending Christie. All I was trying to do was point to the expensive absurdity of it all. I'd have done the same if a Democrat was the target. You nailed it perfectly, and with more credibility than I because of your political leanings. I think I'll leave the debate now, feeling a lot better that rational people DO exist.
