Council Takes Action on Colonial Drive South Reconstruction Project

Roadway near Manchester Township High School will be repaired

Manchester officials are ready to move forward with the reconstruction of a section of Colonial Drive near the township's high school that has been in disrepair for years.

Township Council members approved a resolution authorizing the advertisement and receipt of bids for the Colonial Drive South project Monday evening. Officials said that a 45-day cap on completing the project should ensure it doesn't interfere with school activity at Manchester Township High School.

"The intent is also to get it done this summer" before students return for the 2013-14 school year, said council Vice President Brendan Weiner.

The reconstruction project will repair Colonial Drive South from the railroad tracks to the high school's second driveway, according to the council.

"It needs it," said resident Hank Glen. Council members agreed.
