Dems Select Two Freeholder Candidates

Former Jackson Mayor, local Realtor will run against longtime incumbents

A newly chosen Democrat ticket for Ocean County freeholder will pit former Jackson mayor and local attorney Joseph Grisanti and Beachwood Realtor Patricia Barndt against Republican incumbents John C. Bartlett, Jr. and Gerry P. Little.

The November race saw changes after Democrats George Cevasco and Bonnie Verga withdrew as candidates. Kevin Barron, chairman of the Candidate Screening Committee for the Ocean County Democrats, said the pair withdrew for personal reasons.

"We appreciate their interest and are sorry they weren't able to run, but we are excited and energized about Patricia Barndt and Joseph Grisanti," Barron said.

Grisanti and Barndt were nominated and unanimously chosen as the candidates at the county Democratic meeting Sunday, Barron said.

Also on the ballot for the two county seats are independents Scott Neuman of Toms River and Tracy Caprioni of Brick.

I'm sorry but I don't want to bother with some half-baked party who hasn't been active since 1830. Yes it's a neat novelty to model yourself on an outdated party from over a hunderd years ago but the world has changed A LOT, this countries role in the world has changed A LOT, our social and cultural mores have evolved A LOT. I want a party that looks foward that will embrace the future and adapt for the challanges we face in the future not a party that wants to revive the past. I did a little reasearch into the "Democratic-Republican" party and it just sounds like the tea party's grandpa. I'm a Dem (which nowadays is more like the old school repub party of 50 years ago with a more progressive social twist). But if I decide to switch parties it will be more towards the Green and progressive party (I like what they stand for but don't hold much hope that they will be able to break through on the strangle hold the two traditional parties hold). Good Luck.

KC - Want Change? Read the "Change the Rules Pledge" on NationalTruth.org. We've challenged all candidates for all public office to recuse themselves from the decision-making process (in committee, in the House and Senate) where a conflict of interest exists. There is much more to tell. You have finally got "good men and true" standing to represent you. Many people talk a good game - our guys live and breathe it.
