UPDATED: Gov. Chris Christie Whiting Town Hall Meeting Postponed

Governor was to hold meeting in Crestwood Village 7

Gov. Chris Christie's stop in Whiting — originally scheduled for next week — has been postponed, said a spokesperson for the governor.

Christie, who has been touting what he calls "the New Jersey comeback," was set to visit Fernwood Hall in Crestwood Village 7 on March 14, but those plans have been put on hold. The town hall meeting will be rescheduled, the spokesperson said.

The town halls, where queries from the public are taken in addition to the governor's statements, are often packed events that cover a range of topics.

Last week, with hundreds of Monmouth County residents where he announced that state income taxpayers would see relief in 2012.

"We have turned Trenton upside down, absolutely upside down," Christie said of State Senate President Stephen Sweeney's introduction of a bill to give every state income taxpayer a 10 percent tax credit.

These town hall meetings can at times become heated. At a recent gathering in Florence, Christie engaged in an exchange with a man who questioned the merger of Rowan University and Rutgers University, according to Phillyblurbs.com

“I tried to be patient with the guy. Damn man, I’m the governor, just shut up for a second," Christie said after the man was removed by police.
