Budget restraints meant that last year's display was canceled

Fireworks once again will light up the Manchester's sky in celebration of Independence Day.

Last year's display at Harry Wright Lake in Whiting was canceled due to budget constraints, but Mayor Michael Fressola said that an "explosive" event will be held on Saturday, June 30.

"We heard the disappointment of our residents so we have made other sacrifices during the year in order to provide our residents with a celebration that young and old want and deserve," Fressola said in a statement.
