New Pickle Ball Court Approved in Renaissance

Manchester's planning board memorialized the application on Monday

A new pickle ball court is slated to come to Renaissance.

Manchester's last month heard the application for the court, which will be located in the community's recreation center at 5 Renaissance Blvd. On Monday, the board memorialized the application.

The court will take the place of a temporary playing area in the recreational vehicle parking lot, said planning board secretary Marianne Borthwick.

"Renaissance residents voted at their general [homeowners association] election in September to build the new court in the recreation area," Borthwick said.

The court will be 60 feet by 30 feet and will be surrounded by a 6-foot tall chain link fence, similar to the tennis court, said Christopher Rosati, an engineer with FWH Associates, who testified before the board last month. Though parking is not a concern, additional spaces could be added if necessary, Rosati said.

Because the court is a minor site plan, notice was not required to be given to residents, said board attorney Edward Liston. Nonetheless, telephone calls were made and a television alert on the community's internal station announced the board's January hearing of the application, said attorney for Renaissance Carolyn Record.

The Renaissance Homeowners Association on Wednesday said that it was not yet clear when construction will begin, though they may have a better idea next week.
