PHOTOS: Maps of Parkway Plans for Miles 83 to 100

New Jersey Turnpike Authority divides plans into three stretches, while Ocean County addresses exits 83 and 91

on the lane and shoulder widening and upgrades to interchanges 91 and 83 of the Garden State Parkway allowed the public to view the project plans.

Here are some of the maps on display at the event.

The Brick Civic Plaza hosted the hearing of the project — which stretches from miles 83 to 100 on the parkway — displaying it in multiple map boards.

Here's a key to the maps in our gallery: The main initiative to the project is to widen the shoulders and lanes along these miles, which are all lanes in blue. Shoulders and right-of-ways that are used as part of the widening to 12 foot shoulders are along the roadways in gray.

Reddened areas denote bridges that will be widened. In Ocean County, bridgework at Route 571, Old Freehold Road and Church Road also means the roads underneath will be widened by the Ocean County Roads Department.

A connector road will be built at exit 83, which will serve as an entrance and exit ramp to parkway northbound and will also serve as a bypass between Route 9 and 571 intersecting with Intermediate North Way.

A connector road will also be built between exits 88 and 89, running parallel to the parkway northbound. This will allow for safer decelaration off the parkway and allow drivers to merge northbound from Route 70 onto the connector road instead of entering parkway traffic immediately.

why are 4 lanes required? There are plenty of entrances and exits with one lane. Please explain.

Will there be an entrance to the Parkway going south?. I live in Original Leisure Village across from Airport Road and I have family in Bayville. If so, where will it be? Dot26@Juno.com

The Freeloaders should be fighting for as many exits and entrances as the ppl of Ocean County demand Instead they worry about things like having 13 Commissioners at the OCUA each getting 5 k a yr and FREE Medical and Pension Credits Do your JOB Freeloaders

Over the past four months I have seen this project gain speed. I have to the lack of human compassion and intellect in this project is astounding. The trees that they have torn down unnecessarily for this project is disgusting. I also have watched the migration of heards of deer make their way up the parkway. You can now find them grazing in the middle of the park way by exit 102. I understand all infrastructure we use comes at a cost to mother earth, but the thoughtless deforestation is nothing but sheer ignorance and self motivated greed by the government. I also know that as I began living in the area I found this part of the parkway charming for its natural tree barrier. I now find it so appalling and distasteful. This project has sacrificed the charm and beauty of our precious state and will continue to do.
