Polls Open Tuesday for Lakehurst Primary

Three running for council, two for mayor

Polls for Lakehurst's primary election will open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. as the borough's voters cast their ballots for mayoral and council candidates.

Running for mayor are Harry Robbins, a Republican and current council president, and Democrat Leroy Smith Jr., a newcomer.

The terms of Republican Councilmembers Sid Hooper and Patricia Ford are also coming to a close.

Hooper, a life-long Lakehurst resident, has not filed to run, while Ford has petitioned her candidacy for another three-year term.

New candidates for council are Robin Busch and Ed Seaman Jr., who is chief of the Lakehurst Fire Department. Both are running as Republicans.

With Robbins running for mayor, this leaves three council seats open.

The two highest vote-getters of the three Republicans running in the primary will be selected as that party's candidates. No Democratic council candidates filed for the primary.

Current mayor Timothy Borsetti has chosen not to seek a second term.
