Skilled Nursing Facility Testimony to Continue Tonight

Zoning board will meet at Ridgeway Elementary School at 7 p.m.

Testimony in a controversial skilled nursing facility variance and site plan application is set to continue today, 7 p.m. at .

This will be the fifth time that the application will appear before Manchester's Zoning Board of Adjustment, as the proposed $25 million Manchester Rehab Realty facility was . Since then, have spoken out against the application, which they fear may lower their quality of life and property values.

, held in the township high school auditorium, was adjourned after Lisa John, the attorney representing a group of locals opposed to the facility, argued that the site plans must be re-submitted since the applicant reduced the number of beds from 260 to 180 and said that no structure would be built within 100 feet of the property line at the 3086 Ridgeway Rd. location.

Harvey York, attorney for the applicant, agreed to the adjournment. He said that his client "has absolutely nothing to hide."

Earlier in October, over 1,000 residents to Mayor Michael Fressola expressing their dissatisfaction that he has "not reached out to residents who will be impacted by the proposed nursing home." They also write that the mayor is friends with York.

Fressola responded that he knows the attorney on a professional level and will wait until all the facts are known before making his opinion of the application known.
