Township to Sell Comics, Coins and Collectables Online

Township council approved sale of recovered property this week

Are you in the market for a silver dollar, year 1890? How about collectible comic books, many of which remain housed in a protective sleeve? Maybe a New York Yankees autographed baseball is in your sights.

soon will sell these items, along with numerous others, as the Township Council this week granted approval for the police department to place the recovered items for auction on the GovDeals.com website.

"I think some of the residents may find some of the baseball items of real interest," said councilmember Samuel Fusaro. "If you are baseball fans, there are some items you will be shocked to see are available. There are some other interesting items there."

The items for sale are unclaimed property or materials confiscated by police, said council President Craig Wallis. A complete list of the items is available to view as a PDF document in the media box of this article.

The items are expected to be listed for sale on the auction website later next week, according to Arthur Abline, the township's emergency management coordinator who manages Manchester's GovDeals accounts. Abline must wait for the council resolution to be returned to his office, finish taking pictures of the items and create the listings.

The township receives the majority of the money from the online sales as GovDeals charges a 7.5 percent fee off the sale price. Money raised through the sales goes into the township's general fund or the Law Enforcement Trust account, Abline has said.
