Back to School Nights Kick Off Thursday

Whiting Elementary School will host parents on Thursday

Back to school nights in Manchester will kick off on Thursday, when parents of Whiting Elementary School students are invited to get to know their child's teacher.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., parents of Whiting students can "visit their child’s school, meet teachers and find out about daily classroom routines and expectations," according to a statement on the district's website. 

All back to school nights begin at 6:30 p.m., except for Regional Day School. The date for middle school parents has been changed, as those students while mold removal is conducted.

  • Regional Day School: Oct. 9 (begins at 7:00 p.m.)

"Back to School Night is designed as a general overview and meet-the-teacher opportunity for all parents," the statement says. "Please be aware that it is not the appropriate time to discuss your child’s individual needs or progress with the teacher."

Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled to be held in October and November, at which time parents can address those more specific concerns, according to the district. Those parents with immediate concerns can call the office of their child's school to schedule an appointment or telephone conference.

Superintendent of Schools David Trethaway said in a welcome back note that he hopes to see parents at the events. 

will hold its back to school night on Sept. 20 at 7 p.m.
