Fundraiser for Double Lung Transplant Recipient Set

Registration deadline for bowling benefit is Feb. 27

A pro bowler will headline a fundraiser for a Manchester Hawk bowler who received a double lung transplant in early February.

Sophomore Justine Applegate underwent the transplant on Feb. 2 and is recovering in a Philadelphia hospital where girls bowling coach Mike McCrae said she is doing "well." To help with expenses, the "Bowl a Strike for Justine" benefit has been scheduled for Saturday, March 10.

Pro bowler Parker Bohn III, a 32 time PBA champion and hall of famer, will attend the event at Brunswick Lakewood Lanes — which serves as the home of the bowling team.

For a $100 donation per lane, up to six players can bowl for two hours. Bowlers will also receive a pizza, pitcher of soda and shoe rental. The deadline to register is Feb. 27. Those who cannot attend are welcome to make a donation.

The girls bowling team dedicated their to Applegate, McCrae said.
