Hawks Seeking Donations for Local Shelter Friday

Donations will be collected from 2:45 to 4 p.m. on Friday at MTHS

When Manchester's football team visits Central Regional High School for a Friday game, they plan to bring along more than a challenge — Hawks players are collecting goods for the displaced residents sheltered at the Berkeley school.

Residents are invited to bring donations to the gym side of Manchester Township High School between 2:45 and 4 p.m. Friday. Buses, packed with goods, then will leave for Central at 4:30 p.m.

"It shows their team spirit, unity as a team and willingness to help others in their times of need," said Jill McCloud, a team mother who is helping to organize the effort along with Kelley Rountree. "I think this is a great thing that the Hawks are doing."
