Lakehurst Elementary School students will not return to class until Monday, Nov. 12, after a nor'easter dumped about 8 inches of snow throughout the borough on Wednesday.
The school was set to reopen Friday on an early dismissal schedule, but Superintendent of Schools Jill Dobrowansky said that "extensive damage" throughout the borough required another day closed.
A transformer explosion Wednesday night knocked out power to parts of Lakehurst's downtown. Though over 600 of JCP&L's over 1,200 Lakehurst customers were without power on Thursday following the storm, that number has decreased to 68 as of Thursday night.
Manchester schools will be closed Friday as was originally scheduled by the district for the now-canceled New Jersey Education Association convention. They too will reopen on Monday, Nov. 12.
