Manchester, Lakehurst Schools Will Be Closed Wednesday

District officials made the call well in advance as Tuesday's storm continued to drop snow on the area.

With New Jersey under a state of emergency, Manchester and Lakehurst school officials made the early decision to shut down all schools in both districts for Wednesday.

The area had seen about 3 inches of snow through midafternoon, with more expected through the evening and overnight, and forecasters were warning of dangerously cold temperatures—lows could hit around 4 or colder—for Wednesday morning.

Though the worst snow is expected closer to the Delaware River, National Weather Service forecasters said much of Ocean County could end up with eight inches of snow or more by the end of the storm.
