Manchester Marching Hawks Score Win at Brick Township

The band bounced back from a fifth-place finish at states last week.

A week after finishing fifth in New Jersey in Group 1A, Manchester Township High School’s marching band bounced back in a big way.

The Marching Hawks racked up a score of 83.975 to post the highest score for the weekend in 1A across New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New England in winning the group at Brick Township Saturday.

It wasn’t just a first-place finish, either—Manchester swept the special awards, winning Best Music, Best Visual, Best Effect, Best Guard, Best Percussion and Best Pit Crew on its way to victory.

The Hawks also outscored three of the other four larger bands at Brick Township, while they were at it.

Manchester has two competitions remaining this season—next week, the band heads to Gloucester County for a preview of nationals at Washington Township High School, then face competition from across the Northeast at J. Birney Crum Stadium in Allentown, PA, on Nov. 9.
