Ridgeway, Whiting and Manchester Township Elementary Schools observed Read Across America Day on March 1 in celebration of Dr. Seuss's birthday.

Ridgeway, Whiting and Manchester Township Elementary Schools observed Read Across America Day on March 1 in celebration of Dr. Seuss's birthday.

Guest readers included parents, principals, senior volunteers, the superintendent, BOE members, special guests from the community and even students of different grade levels reading to each other.

Students participated in all kinds of activities relating to the theme of reading and Dr. Seuss.  They wore Cat in the Hat hats, Thing 1 & 2 shirts, and even pajamas.  One class made Cat in the Hat treats out of cookies and marshmallows decorated with red licorice shoelaces. Some ate green eggs and ham.

At MTES, students tied in math activities earlier in the week, doing a survey of favorite Dr. Seuss books by grade level and then charting and graphing the results.  The Grinch and Green Eggs & Ham appeared to be overwhelming favorites at all of the grade levels.

The principals said they would like to thank everyone who helped make this event a special day for their students.
