Theobold To Battle For Seventh On Last Day Of State Finals

Manchester junior will bring home a medal either way in his last match of the year.

Only a junior, there is no question the future looks bright for Manchester High School's Ken Theobold. Wrestling at 125 pounds, Theobold has assured himself of bringing home a medal this year, while also gaining invaluable experience that cannot be gained anywhere other than at the NJSIAA state wrestling finals at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.Starting his day in the consolations, Theobold was in for a long day either way, but made the most of it as he rolled through his first two opponents. The morning started against Adam Swift of Seacaucus and Theobold had no problem with his opponent as he dominated in a 10-2 major decision. It may not have given his team four points, but it was a good way to build momentum going forward. That momentum carried him through his next match when he faced Joseph Esposito of St. Augustine. The match was a little closer, but even with a 5-1 score, he was clearly in control. That win also brought him into the medal round despite a 3-2 loss to Matt Sausman of Camden Catholic in the consolation quarterfinals. He will now face Steven Schneider of Emerson Park Ridge with seventh place on the line.Be sure to check Patch on Sunday for more live coverage of all the action from Boardwalk Hall.
