Labor Day Closures

Closings for the Monday federal holiday

Labor Day, a federal holiday so named and in 1894 set aside as a day to recognize the accomplishments and contributions of working people to the general success of the American experiment, will shutter a whole bunch of everyday activities Monday.

So take it easy. That’s what holidays are for.

Manchester's Planning Board, which usually meets on the first Monday of each month, has pushed back its regular meeting to Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Municipal Complex courtroom.

All branches in the Ocean County Library System will close in observance of the holiday.

Don’t expect to get your mail, or to get that package you were counting on. Post offices nationwide will be closed.

New Jersey state offices will be closed. Trenton will be a ghost town. Likewise, county and municipal offices will be closed. 

Students in Manchester and Lakehurst will head back to school on Wednesday. Staff in both districts report back to work on Tuesday.
