Today is The First Day of Summer!

Today marks the first official day of summer.

It looks like the area will see some beautiful weather for this year’s Summer Solstice.

The National Weather Service forecast is calling for sunny weather, with a high nearing 80 degrees. Light and variable wind, becoming south 3 to 8 mph in the afternoon.  The forecast says Saturday and Sunday will be partly to mostly sunny. 

This year’s Summer Solstice, which marks the beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, happened shortly after midnight on Friday at 1:04 a.m., according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac website
