Wednesday ConcertFest Performances Postponed Due to Storm Threat

Severe thunderstorms could impact the area Wednesday night

The threat of severe thunderstorms in the area Wednesday evening into the night has forced organizers to postpone the second in a series of ConcertFest performances of this summer.

"Due to impending thunder storms, tonight’s concert at Harry Wright Lake has been cancelled and rescheduled," said Manchester Department of Recreation Office Manager Cassandra Colgate in an email.

Joel and the Dynamics and The Infernos were scheduled to play at Harry Wright Lake in Whiting for the second of four 2012 ConcertFest performances beginning at 6 p.m. That concert will now be held on Wednesday, July 25, at the same time.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch in many New Jersey counties, including Ocean, until 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Storms are expected mainly after 4 p.m. and may feature "large hail, damaging winds, heavy rain and frequent lightning," according to the service's forecast.
