Municipal Alliance Has Focus On Friday's Hayride And 'Trick Or Trunk'

Organization makes final plans for Halloween event on Oct. 28

In a brief regular meeting held Tuesday night, members of the Manchester Township Municipal Alliance discussed last-minute planning and preparation for their Halloween Hayride and ”Trick or Trunk” event on Friday, Oct. 28, at .

Along with the hayride, “Trick or Trunk” is a contest held in the high school parking lot featuring vehicle trunks decorated with Halloween themes. A raindate has been set for the following day, Saturday, Oct. 29.

Though it was previously discussed that one grand prize of $50 cash will be awarded to a winner, coordinator Marianne Borthwick said that it was very likely that a pair of $50 cash prizes would be awarded instead to two winners.

“So many people have called me about being there, now we just have to hope that we have all the trunks (to enter the contest) too,” Borthwick said. “It’s a fun night that brings the community together, and historically, it’s been successful no matter what the weather has been.”

It was revealed that 13 trunks are enrolled in the contest to the best of the Alliance’s knowledge.

Manchester’s Policeman’s Benevolent Association, Police Athletic League and Parent-Teacher Association each have donated $100 to “Trick or Trunk”, and township employees along with the Alliance are donating candy for the decorated trunks as well.

Teacher Danielle Palmieri commented that MTHS faculty involvement at the event may be limited due to parent-teacher conferences this week, but expressed best wishes for a great time this Friday night nonetheless.

Again, current members of the group expressed desire for an influx of new membership and to serve as volunteers.

“Anyone of good character (who wants to be involved),” said longtime Alliance member John McGuire.

The next regular meeting of the Municipal Alliance will take place on Nov. 29, 2011 at 7 p.m. in the civic center of the Municipal Building at 1 Colonial Drive. Meetings are normally held on the last Tuesday of each month.
