Toms River-based Ocean County Hunger Relief Gets Shocking News, Report Says

Organization losing much of its warehouse space

On the same day that Ocean County Hunger Relief announced a new plan to help the area’s homeless, the nonprofit organization learned that at least part of its operation could soon be out on the street without a home, according to a report in the Asbury Park Press.

Executive Director Carol Latif said Tuesday much of their warehouse space attached to their administrative offices and food pantry on Germania Station Road has been sold by Valley National Bank in Wayne to a commercial interest, despite the organization’s own effort to purchase the property for about $900,000.

“I am in shock,” Latif said just hours after a news conference in which she announced the organization would expand its mission to support residents of Lakewood’s Tent City.
