Lakehurst Boro Emergency Services

Flag as Inappropriate

The borough's fire department was founded in 1911 as the Manchester Volunteer Fire Company #1 but was renamed in 1921, with the formation of the Borough of Lakehurst. In 1937, the department was a respondent to the Hindenburg disaster at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station. A fire chief, deputy fire chief, assistant chief and three captains lead the 20-volunteer crew, responding to fire, rescue and EMS calls.
