Burglary Arrest After Suspect Attempts Rooftop Escape from Hotel Room

Police chase man around Route 37 hotel and find him heading in resident's shed

A Manchester man led police on a chase from a third-floor hotel room window onto a roof before fleeing over fences and hiding in a residential shed off Route 37 yesterday. Police apprehended the man, who was wanted for a Toms River burglary, police said. Toms River Police arrived at the Comfort Inn on Route 37 in Toms River on suspicion that a burglary suspect was staying in a room there. Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy said an Oct. 2 burglary of a California Avenue home had a man forcibly remove a section of fence and enter through a kitchen window to steal $1,000 in jewelry. Police: Juvenile Allegedly Entered Adjoined Neighbor's Home Through Attic, Stole Jewelry

Charges were issued to 17-year-old male on Sunday

A 17-year-old faces multiple charges after police allege he entered an adjoining home in a senior community through the attached attic and stole jewelry.  Police were called to a Chesterfield Court home in Leisure Village West on Sunday, Sept. 23, when a resident said that jewelry was missing from her home, Manchester Police Department Capt. Lisa Parker said in a statement.  "During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the point of entry was a hole that had been made in the firewall in the attic between the victim's residence and the attached neighbor's attic," Parker said. Police: Crestwood Village Homes Targeted by Burglar

Police have been investigating burglaries and attempted burglaries for months

Police are cautioning residents in some Whiting senior communities to ensure that they secure their homes in an effort to thwart burglaries in the area.  Officers have been investigating multiple burglaries and attempted burglaries in Crestwood Villages I, VI and VII, in which unlocked doors and windows were used to enter homes, Manchester Police Department Capt. Lisa Parker said.  Police have found that "no further attempt" to enter a home is made by the suspect when he is "confronted with a locked door or window," Parker said. Police: Union Man Stole Nearly $5,000 in Jewelry from Leisure Knoll Home

Man was charged last week after resident reported gold and silver missing

Manchester police last week charged a Union County man with theft and burglary, alleging that he stole nearly $5,000 worth of jewelry from a Leisure Knoll home.  Police issued the charges to Michael W. Curren, 26, of Roselle, on May 31 after a Red Hill Road resident reported $4,905 in missing gold and silver jewelry, said Capt. Lisa Parker in a statement.  Patrolmen David Fusaro and George Smith originally responded to the retirement village home, and Patrolman Michael Anderson and Detective Chris Hemhauser followed up. Victim's Friend Accused of Whiting Burglary

Arrests made for burglary and outstanding warrants

The following arrests and charges were issued by Manchester Police last week, according to information released by Capt. Lisa Parker. The warrant came through a burglary investigation in Whiting Station. Now standing accused of the burglary is Kaitlyn Fahey, 25 – who was a friend of the Rose Lase resident where that burglary occurred in Whiting Station. Police reported that Fahey was arrested and charged with one count of burglary, one count of theft, and one count of possession of stolen property. Fahey was lodged in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail, with a 10 percent option. The above charges are not an indication of guilt.

The Manchester Township Police Department reported making three arrests yesterday for burglary, theft and DWI charges, though the incidents are not related. Arrests for Burglary & Theft Charges  On Nov. 17, 2011 at 4:19 a.m., police reported that Ptl. Patrick Cervenak observed a vehicle exiting the parking lot of the Mid-Jersey Supply Company, located at 2486 Ridgeway Blvd. Ptl. Cervenak proceeded to stop the vehicle with purpose to speak with its occupants; Jackson residents Kevin Bogurski, 21, and Kenneth Wickham, 22, to discover what they were doing in the area. A resident's timely call to Manchester police helped authorities nab two men who broke into a home. Police arrested Michael Deangelis of Howell and Phillip Deangelis of Freehold Monday after a 911 call led them to the 700 block of Champlain Street. Michael Deangelis stands accused of trying to enter the home, while Phillip served as his getaway driver, police said. The 911 call at 1:54 p.m. reported the arrival of the two men in a red Honda. The passenger, later identified as Michael Deangelis, got out and was reportedly seen climbing into the home via a rear window. Indictment in Assault with Metal Newspaper Rack After Burglary

Toms River man faces charges of aggravated assault, burglary

An assault with a metal newspaper rack at a deli has lead to an indictment against a Toms River man. An Ocean County grand jury indicted a Garfield Avenue man on charges of assaulting a Seaside Heights resident while burglarizing his home this summer. John A. Ogrodowski is charged with breaking into a Sumner Avenue residence on July 15 and assaulting the resident while being in possession of weapons. Ogrodowski faces aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon (metal newspaper rack), burglary and unlawful possession of a weapon (knife) charges. Toms River Man Indicted on Multiple Burglary Charges

Man stole jewelry from four area homes, according to an Ocean County grand jury

A string of burglaries and thefts in Manchester, Toms River and Brick in January were the work of a Toms River man, according to an indictment returned by an Ocean County grand jury on July 1. Robert C. Meloni, 46, of Greenview Way, Toms River, is accused of breaking into and stealing jewelry from a Manchester house on Jan. 9, two Brick homes on Jan. 11 and a Toms River residence on Jan. 13. Joanne T. Mayer, 45, who lives with Meloni, is accused of possessing some of the stolen jewelry in Jackson on Jan. 11 and dealing in stolen property. Both are being held in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of bail.

Burglar Breaks Into Route 70 Pizzeria

Sunday incident caught on camera

A man breaking and entering into a Route 70 pizzeria early Sunday realized he tripped an alarm and quickly fled, according to surveillance video provided by Toms River Police. Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy said a stocky, white male with a clean-shaven head was caught on video cameras installed at Geno D's Pizza, 189 Route 70 near Whitesville Road in Toms River. Just after 3 a.m. Sunday, an alarm was tripped at the pizzeria, with officers and the owner responding shortly thereafter, Mastronardy said. They believed the business was victim of an attempted robbery, but after reviewing the security video, the culprit could be seen inside the pizzeria rooting around the business for about a minute before noticing a flashing red …
