Lakehurst Circle Crash Results in Charges

Spring Lake Heights resident cited

Luke D. Lemme, 21, of Spring Lake Heights faces several charges following a crash at the Lakehurst Circle early Sunday Morning. Sgt. Ron Heinzman of the Lakehurst Police Department reported that Lemme was driving a 2006 Saturn Ion at 1:42 a.m. when he was involved in the accident. Following an investigation by Officer Joseph DePasquale it was determined that Lemme was driving while intoxicated as a result of the crash. Lemme was reportedly entering the circle from Route 37 at a "high rate of speed," when he crashed and caused "extensive damage," to his vehicle according to Sgt. Heinzman. Following the accident Lemme was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, driving an uninsured vehicle and failure to maintain lane. He …

Police Blotter: Motor Vehicle Stops Lead to Outstanding Warrants, Drug, DWI Arrests

Manchester Township Police Department report recent arrests

Lt. Vincent Manco of the Manchester Township Police Department reported these recent motor vehicle stops, all of which led to arrests for various violations. * On December 28th at 6:40 p.m., Ptl. Brian Volk of the Manchester Township Police Division’s Patrol Bureau stopped a vehicle for a motor vehicle violation. During the stop and investigation it was learned that the operator, Phillip Scheller, age 35, of Forked River, had multiple outstanding arrest warrants from Newark, Jersey City, Union City, and Waretown. Scheller was subsequently arrested, processed and later released from custody on his own recognizance pending court in the above jurisdictions. * On December 28th at 8:36 p.m., Ptl. Manchester and Lakehurst Receive Grant Money for Drunken Driving Crackdown

State funds will go toward paying for police overtime and sobriety checkpoints

Officers from Manchester and Lakehurst's police departments will ramp up drunken driving patrols beginning this weekend as part of the summer 2012 "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign, the state Division of Highway Traffic Safety announced.  Municipalities throughout the state, including eight from Ocean County, received $4,400 from the state to fund overtime patrols from Aug. 17 through Sept. 3, according to the division. During that time, police will set up sobriety checkpoints and patrol roadways for potentially drunk drivers. "Many people believe that after a few drinks they’re still safe to drive," Gary Poedubicky, acting director of the Division of Highway Traffic Safety, said in a statement. Police Blotter: DWI Charges Issued to Three Township Residents

Officers issued three driving while intoxicated charges last weekend

Three township residents were issued driving while intoxicated charges by Manchester police officers last weekend, according to information released by Capt. Lisa Parker.  On Friday, June 22, 53-year-old Marc A. Rogala was charged with the offense along Manchester Boulevard by Patrolman Brian Volk. Rogala was released with a summons, according to Parker. Richard C. Winkowski, 59, was charged with the offense on Saturday, June 23, by Patrolman Jesse Hoydis near the intersection of Oakdale Street and Broadway Boulevard. Parker said that Winkowski was released with a summons.  On Sunday, June 24, Hoydis charged 51-year-old James E. Aguirre with the offense along Nathan Avenue. Local Police Departments Help to Arrest Drunk, Suspended Driver

With assistance from Toms River Township authorities, Manchester Police make traffic arrest

Cooperative efforts from the Manchester and Toms River Police Departments helped put a drunk driver behind bars late Monday night. The Manchester Police Department received a call from their colleagues in Toms River at approximately 11:38 p.m. yesterday evening that an “erratic” driver was proceeding westbound on Route 37 from Toms River Township into Manchester Township, information which was immediately radioed through dispatch to Manchester patrol units. Mere moments later, Ptl. Matthew Juralewicz and his partner, Sgt. Vincent Manco, located the erratically-driven vehicle in question on Route 37 entering the Leisure Village West adult residential community. The Manchester Township Police Department reported making three arrests yesterday for burglary, theft and DWI charges, though the incidents are not related. Arrests for Burglary & Theft Charges  On Nov. 17, 2011 at 4:19 a.m., police reported that Ptl. Patrick Cervenak observed a vehicle exiting the parking lot of the Mid-Jersey Supply Company, located at 2486 Ridgeway Blvd. Ptl. Cervenak proceeded to stop the vehicle with purpose to speak with its occupants; Jackson residents Kevin Bogurski, 21, and Kenneth Wickham, 22, to discover what they were doing in the area.
