Lakehurst Mayor 'Proud to be Part of Community That Pulls Together' in Tough Times

Now that Sandy and the nor’easter that dumped up to a foot of snow are behind us, the cleanup has begun. Many homes were without power for a week or more. Some homes even got their power back only to lose it again.  I thank the residents for their patience and cooperation during this trying time. Our Fire Department not only helped rescue victims in the devastated areas but also ran a clothes and food drive and along with the Lakehurst First Aid they opened their doors so that the residents of Lakehurst could take a hot shower, have a hot cup of coffee and recharge not only their cell phones and laptops, but themselves as well. Lakehurst to Welcome New Mayor, Council Members Sunday

The borough council will reorganize on New Years Day

Lakehurst will have a new mayor and council members when the governing body reorganizes on Sunday, Jan. 1. Harry Robbins, a Republican and current council president, will be sworn in as mayor during the 12 p.m. meeting at the Community Center on Center Street as he assumes the post previously held by Republican Timothy Borsetti.  Robbins took nearly 70 percent of the vote, totalling 288 ballots in the November general election, defeating his Democratic opponent Leroy Smith. Republicans Ed Seaman, who serves as the borough's fire department chief, and Robbin Busch will take their seats on the borough council after they edged out independent Gary Lowe, a former borough police sergeant for the two available seats.  Council member Sid Hooper …
