$75.9 Million in Federal Aid to Rebuild Route 35

The funding will be used to rebuild 12 miles of Route 35 in Ocean County.

New Jersey will receive more than $75.9 million in federal funding to repair and reconstruct more than 12 miles of State Route 35 in Ocean County seriously damaged by Hurricane Sandy, U.S. Democratic Senators Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez announced Friday.  The funding - exactly $75,935,520 - is provided by the Department of Transportation's Emergency Relief program, which is administered through the Federal Highway Administration. The Governor's plan obviously is to spend all the money he can on speeding up access to areas that bring in tourist sales taxes. He could care less about the residents who are still displaced and who have been left out to dry by Fema. Please do not vote for him next go round.   more ›

Gov. Christie and President Obama Express Disappointment Over Delay in Sandy Aid

Vote on a $60.4 billion aid package delayed in Congress.

Gov. Chris Christie and President Barack Obama each released statements Wednesday expressing disappointment over the failure of the House of Representatives to vote on the $60.4 billion Hurricane Sandy Aid Package and urged Congress to make the bill a priority when it reconvenes Thursday.  Though the U.S. Senate approved the bill Friday, Congress failed to act on the bill, at different times criticizing the allocation of some of its funding, considering splitting the aid package into separate bills, and putting it off until a deal was reached on the impending "fiscal cliff."  Eventually, the decision was made to table it until the New Year.
