Philadelphia Man Killed in Car Accident on Route 70 in Manchester

Jason Feliciano died as the result of a head-on collision Saturday night.

A Philadelphia man is dead following a two-car accident on Route 70 in Manchester Saturday night, police said Sunday morning, May 5. Jason Feliciano, 28, died as the result of a head-on collision while attempting to pass several cars. He was driving east on Route 70 in a 2001 Honday Accord when he switched over to the westbound lane in an attempt to pass several cars in front of him. He collided with a 2004 Chrysler Sebring, being driven by Elizabeth M. Froelich, 54, of Browns Mills. Feliciano was traveling with his girlfriend, Janoris Baez, 23, and three children, ages 4, 5, and 6. The children were not in proper restraints, but were wearing seatbelts, according to police. March Madness Basketball Fundraiser at MTHS

Manchester PBA vs. Manchester Faculty March 15

Members of the Manchester Twp. PBA 246 will face off against members of the Manchester Twp. High School faculty at Manchester's March Madness on Friday, March 15 in the MTHS gym. The event will benefit the Coach Rodney Copeland Scholarship Fund and future Hawk spirit items.  In addition to the basketball competition, there will also be a half court shootout, slam dunk contest, prizes, food and raffles. Admission is $5.00 and doors open at 6 p.m.

Car Hits Utility Pole On Ridgeway Boulevard

Driver determined to be driving under the influence

Manchester Township police were notified by a 911 caller that a car crashed into a utility pole on Ridgeway Bouevard near Ridge Road on Saturday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 5:41 am. When Patrolman Adam Guker arrived, he found the driver, Karl Kovacofsky, 30, of Manchester Township, outside of his overturned 2002 Nissan Altima, police said.  Though Kovackofsky stated he was not injured, the Manchester Township First Aid and Rescue Squad responded as a precaution, ultimately releasing Kovackofsky when he refused medical treatment, according to police. Based on Patrolman Guker’s investigation, it was determined that Kovackofsky was driving under the influence and was subsequently arrested. He was served motor vehicle …

Son Backs Car Out of Driveway, Strikes Pedestrian

Pedestrian turns out to be father.

The driver of a 2006 Chrysler Sebring was backing out of a residential driveway, on Westport Drive in the Whiting section of Manchester at approximately 10:39 this morning, when he struck a male pedestrian, who turned out to be his father. The operator of the vehicle was 60-year-old Raul Hernandez Jr.  The pedestrian, 88-year-old Raul Hernandez Sr., suffered non-life threatening infuries.  As a result of the crash, Raul Hernandez Sr. was transported to Community Medical Center by Quality Medical Transport for treatment of injuries to his face and head. The crash remains under investigation by Manchester Township Traffic Safety Officer Ian Bole. No further information was available.

One-Car Accident on Route 539 Sends Driver to Hospital

Motorist sustains minor injuries in Saturday afternoon crash

According to Manchester Township Police, the driver involved in a one-vehicle accident on Saturday afternoon on Route 539 suffered only minor injuries. "On December 22, 2012, at 3:54 p.m., Manchester Township Police received a call of a single-vehicle crash on Route 539, in the area of mile post 26," said Lt. Vincent Manco. When Manchester patrol officers arrived, they found that a 1991 Toyota Corolla which had been operated by Amanda Waller, 21, of Forked River, had left the roadway and collided with a utility pole. As a result of the crash, Waller sustained minor injuries and was transported by first aid to Community Medical Center in Toms River for treatment. Pop Warner Football Player Suffers Neck Injury

Twelve-year-old girl flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for evaluation and treatment

A Pop Warner football player was injured when she collided with another player this afternoon at the Pop Warner football fields on Ridgeway Road in Manchester Township, according to Manchester Township police. Patrolman Keith Craig responded to the field at 12:37 p.m. for a 12-year-old football player with a neck injury. Upon Craig's arrival, medical personnel were stabilizing the patient on the 50-yard line where the injury occurred. The patient was in and out of consciousness, and the medical personnel on scene requested a helicopter for transport to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
