Longtime Manchester Councilman Receives Fond Farewell

Kenneth P. Vanderziel exits township council with display of appreciation and respect

It was recently announced that after a combined total of over 18 years of service to the Manchester Township Council, Kenneth P. Vanderziel has called it a career on the governing body, effective Nov. 30. During last Monday night’s council meeting, Clerk Sabina Skibo began by stating that it was very “bittersweet” and “with regret” that she accepted the resignation letter of Vanderziel just days earlier. The clerk then read from that letter, where Vanderziel expressed appreciation to the town of Manchester and its residents, and regret at his departure, citing “personal reasons” as the cause. Council President Craig Wallis followed up by saying that Vanderziel "has always conducted himself in an honest, caring way,” and that he possessed …

Vanderziel Resigns from Manchester Council, Effective Nov. 30

Township soliciting applications to fill vacant seat

Manchester Township Council member Kenneth P. Vanderziel has resigned from the governing body, effective Nov. 30, 2011. Vanderziel said today that he felt, at 88 years old, it was “time to move on.” Also coming into play for his decision were reasons relating to his physical health and mobility, the councilman said. “It has nothing to do with party politics or anything like that, but I feel that I’ve reached a (physical) point where I can no longer do the job that I want to do,” Vanderziel said. However, the councilman was filled with praise for the residents of Manchester prior to his departure. “I would just like to say that I’m very appreciative of the support they’ve given me.
