Prices continue to drop locally
Gas prices dropped 4 cents from last week, with locals in Manchester and Lakehurst now paying an average of $3.65 for a gallon of regular gasoline as of Friday morning. As the cost for a barrel of oil continues to hover around $100, gas station prices are starting to more accurately reflect that. This is now the fourth straight week that local gas prices have dropped. Similar to weeks past, residents of Manchester and Lakehurst continue to pay less per gallon than those throughout the country and Garden State. According to AAA as of Friday morning, the national average for a gallon of regular is $3.79, which is 3.8 percent higher than locally. Oil industry analyst says summer prices could stay under $4 per gallon
The steady rise in gasoline prices during the last seven months may finally be slowing to a halt, one analyst said Monday. The cost of a gallon of gas has increased steadily since October, but may have reached its peak, said Ben Brockwell, an oil industry analyst with the Oil Price Information Service – an oil industry news service based on Route 138 in Wall. Current prices at the pump could be what drivers will pay later this summer, Brockwell said. “My personal view is that I think prices have peaked for the summer, but they’re not going to drop very much,” Brockwell said. “But there are a lot of people that disagree with me.” The national average for a gallon of regular gas is $3.96, according to the Automobile Association of Amerca. …

Oil industry analyst says Wall Street speculation a main reason for high pump prices
The price of a gallon of gasoline has been on a steady rise since October and one of the chief reasons that drivers are being squeezed is not increased demand, but increased profit, one expert said Monday. Gas prices continue bullish behavior
Local prices for a gallon of regular gas are up an average of 6 cents from last week, coming in at $3.58. Despite the increase, Manchester and Lakehurst residents are still in better shape than much of the country, as local gas prices are 24 cents cheaper than the national average of $3.82 for a gallon of regular, according to AAA. With local stations charging about $3.50 per gallon of regular gas, do you drive less?
For the past few Fridays, Manchester Patch has been running a roundup of prices at local gas stations. Our first roundup in late March found that prices for a gallon of regular gas around town were around $3.30. Last Friday, the average price of gas around Manchester jumped to $3.50. More troubling yet, in early January, a gallon of regular went for about $2.92 locally. At the time, a manager at the Exxon on Route 37 and Commonwealth Boulevard predicted that regular gas will hit $3.99 by summer. Have rising gas prices changed your driving habits? Prices continue to rise around the country and locally
Manchester and Lakehurst residents are paying quite a bit more to fill up their cars this week, as the average price for a gallon of gas locally has increased 16 cents per gallon compared to last Friday. The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline is now $3.52, up from $3.36 last week. Despite the 16-cent increase, locals are still paying much less than the average American, as AAA reported the national average to be at $3.74 for a gallon of regular on Friday. Manchester and Lakehurst paying three cents more per gallon
Local gas prices are up when compared to last weekend, as the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Manchester and Lakehurst is now $3.36. That represents a three cent increase from last week, when locals paid an average of $3.33 for a gallon of regular. Stations in Manchester and Lakehurst remain below state and county average.
You may have noticed your money at the gas pumps doesn't go as far as it used to. Gas in New Jersey hit an average $3.00 per gallon overnight, reported AAA. Ocean and Monmouth Counties come in just a penny under the state average, at $2.99 per gallon of regular unleaded gas, according to AAA's Fuel Gauge Report. This is a two cent increase from last week, and an increase of 48 cents from one year ago. "It's an unwelcome membership to an expensive club," said AAA Mid-Atlantic spokesman Tracy Noble in a statement. Locally, a gallon of regular gas is $2.93 at both the Hall's Gulf station on Route 70 in Lakehurst and the Exxon on Route 37 and Commonwealth Blvd. in Manchester.
