Cedar Glen Volunteer Hospitalized Following Fall from Ladder

74-year-old was trimming a tree and lost footing, police said

A 74-year-old Cedar Glen Homes maintenance volunteer was airlifted to a regional trauma center after taking a 15-foot fall from a ladder Thursday morning.  James Dixon of Holly Street was on a ladder attempting to cut a tree limb on Willow Street — on Cedar Glen property — when he "lost his footing and fell" at about 9:15 a.m., said Manchester Police Lt. Vincent Manco.  Along with patrol officers, paramedics from Quality Medical Transport and MONOC responded to the scene to treat Dixon. "Medical personnel on scene made the decision to have Mr. Dixon transported to a trauma center via medivac helicopter," Manco said.  Dixon was airlifted from the Manchester Middle School athletic fields and taken to the trauma center at Jersey Shore …

Police Blotter: Burglary, DWI and Drug Charges Issued

Law enforcement activity reported by Manchester officers last week

Driving while intoxicated charges were among the offenses reported by Manchester police officers last week, according to a log of police activity released by Capt. Lisa Parker.  The first came on Tuesday, Oct. 30, when Jason E. Klapmuts, 31, of Manchester was charged with DWI on Route 571 by Patrolman David Fusaro, Parker said. Days later on Thursday, Nov. 1, township resident Christopher J. Howdyshell, 46, was charged with the same offense on Commonwealth Boulevard after being stopped by Patrolman Peter Manco, according to Parker. Both men were released with summonses, the captain said. Other items on last week's police blotter include: Sunday, Nov. 4 Seaside Heights resident Michelle L. Gauthier, 21, was charged with drug possession …

Police Blotter: DWI, Drug and Trespassing Charges Issued Last Week

Law enforcement activity reported by Manchester officers last week

Two driving while intoxicated charges and a drug possession offense were reported by Manchester police officers last week, according to a log of police activity released by Capt. Lisa Parker.  The first of those charges came on Monday, Oct. 22, when township resident Marc A. Rogala, 53 was stopped by Patrolman Richard Mazza near the Whiting Shopping Center. Rogala was released with a summons, according to Parker. Another driving while intoxicated charge was issued on Tuesday, Oct. 23, to 48-year-old Edward Borthwick, a township resident. Patrolman Brian Collins issued Borthwick the summons near Eleanor Drive, Parker said. The following day, on Thursday, Oct. 24, Toms River resident Stephon W. Wilmont, 19, was charged with drug possession …

Police Blotter: Commonwealth Traffic Stop Yields Drug Charges

Charges issued by Manchester police on Wednesday

A routine traffic stop on Commonwealth Boulevard led to drug charges for a Toms River man Wednesday.  Manchester police Patrolman Joseph Fastige was on patrol on Route 37 near Commonwealth when he spotted a 2004 Honda Accord exit the Exxon gas station without headlights on, said Lt. Vincent Manco in a statement. Fastige then stopped the driver of the car, Stephon Wilmot, 19, of Toms River, on Commonwealth and Second Street in the township's Pine Lake Park section. "During the course of the investigation the driver was found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia," Manco said. Wilmot was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as motor vehicle summonses for driving …

Police Blotter: Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to Drug Charges

Manchester police charge two Bayville men with drug offenses

Two Bayville men face numerous charges after police allege that drugs and paraphernalia were found during a traffic stop in Manchester.  Manchester police Patrolman Peter Manco made a motor vehicle stop on Friday, Oct. 19, and seized 150 wax paper folds containing heroin, multiple empty wax paper folds, a hypodermic needle and $4,501 in cash, according to a statement released by Lt. Vincent Manco. Alan Arons, 31, of Bayville was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and hindering apprehension, Manco said. Arons initially provided police with the name "Robert Arons" when questioned, Manco said, but fingerprints led to the positive …

Police Blotter: Assault and Obstruction Charges Reported

Law enforcement activity reported by Manchester officers last week

After issuing eight drug charges earlier in October, last week's Manchester police blotter was lighter with activity, according to a log of police activity released by Capt. Lisa Parker.  On Friday, Oct. 12, Michael D. Burgett, 60, of Manchester was charged with assault at 108 Lacey Rd., the Whiting Town Center shopping plaza, by Patrolman Richard Conklin. Police released Burgett with a summons, Parker said.  Manchester resident Ronald J. Hart, 25, was charged by Patrolman Brian Collins with obstruction on Sunday, Oct. 14 at Bacall Sq., a road off of Route 37. Parker said that Hart was released with a summons.  Police also reported seven warrant arrests last week. Of those, five were released after posting bail, one was taken to the Ocean …

Police Blotter: More Drug Charges Announced

Law enforcement activity reported by Manchester officers last week

A week after Manchester police announced five drug arrests in the township, officers charged another three with the offense. Police issued the charges on a single day, Saturday, Oct. 6, according to a log of police activity released by Capt. Lisa Parker. Additionally, two of those charged received an additional count of driving while intoxicated.  Township resident Alexandra M. Fiore, 18, was charged with drug possession on Route 571 by Patrolman Joseph Reilly and released with a summons, the captain said. Cream Ridge resident Matthew A. Goldberg, 34, was charged with with both drug possession and driving while intoxicated after being stopped on Route 530 in Whiting by Patrolman Anthony Iliadis. Goldberg was issued a summons, Parker said. …

Police reported that five Ocean County residents — four of whom are from Manchester — were charged with drug possession last week. The first of the charges came on Monday, Sept. 24, when Patrolman Chris Cerullo alleged 18-year-old Emanuel S. Kiprakis of Jackson was found with a controlled dangerous substance on Route 37 near Colonial Drive, according to a log of Manchester police activity released by Capt. Police Blotter: Vehicle Theft, Drug and Burglary Charges Issued

Law enforcement activity reported by Manchester officers last week

Officers from the Manchester Police Department last week issued charges for motor vehicle theft to two individuals days apart, according to arrest information released by Capt. Lisa Parker.  Manchester resident Matthew A. Balewicz, 19, was charged with the offense on Tuesday, Sept. 18 on Third Avenue in the township's Pine Lake Park section by Patrolman Jason Wiener. Balewicz was taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River, according to Parker.  Days later on Saturday, Sept. 22, police charged 29-year-old Jennifer M. Barnett of Camden with motor vehicle theft. Police: Juvenile Allegedly Entered Adjoined Neighbor's Home Through Attic, Stole Jewelry

Charges were issued to 17-year-old male on Sunday

A 17-year-old faces multiple charges after police allege he entered an adjoining home in a senior community through the attached attic and stole jewelry.  Police were called to a Chesterfield Court home in Leisure Village West on Sunday, Sept. 23, when a resident said that jewelry was missing from her home, Manchester Police Department Capt. Lisa Parker said in a statement.  "During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the point of entry was a hole that had been made in the firewall in the attic between the victim's residence and the attached neighbor's attic," Parker said.
