u have a choice on whether or not to join the team... and Boyd elementary has a big percentage of students who recieve free or reduced lunch which means they will also get free uniforms of course they voted yes

ReplyBOE meeting Thursday at 7:00pm, thats when the vote will happen, show up and be heard!! Typing on here no one cares but maybe if some of those board members (who didnt even care enough to attend the meeting) realize they will lose their seats in the next election they might think twice!

only two board members attended the meeting on Monday night, so they are all going off the recomendation of Dr. P., whose idea it was to impose uniforms in the first place, gee do we really think hes going to tell them that the majority of parents at the meeting were against them, who is going to make a recomendation and then tell the people who make the decision that its not a good idea?

ReplyThey will improve attendence, my child hasnt missed a single day of school this year
They will help improve grades, my child is a scholar athlete
They will stop discrimination, my child spends every Sunday morning volunteering as a "Buddy" for the challenger league, she does not discriminate
So because some kids make fun or Bully other students, and some dont show up to school and some have bad grades MY CHILD SHOULD BE PUNISHED? REALLY! -

ReplyCentral over the years has produced, doctors, lawyers, teachers, writers, directors etc. ALL without uniforms. And if uniforms are so great they have them in Lakewood lets compare test scores. Oh and by the way if anyone wants to see what these uniforms look like, just go to any McDonalds thats what their employees are wearing!

ReplyAnd while there are some students in favor of uniforms, most of the ones my daughter talks to are not and for Dr. P to say that seeing the uniforms swayed the kids against them I would say is absolutely false. I certainly hope that these votes are done on the up and up because I dont believe they will be. My daughter came home with a pic of these uniforms and they are ugly ugly ugly and are more geared to covering up the girls than anything else setting women back a couple hundred years, the skirts are almost ankle length.

ReplyI was told that cost of these uniforms would fall on the parents, except for those less fortunate, why not just buy those students new clothes instead of putting an added burden on me. People keep saying how much cheaper it is, I dont see how there will still be 7 days in a week that my child will need clothes for, my husband wears uniforms for work and the first thing he does each day when he gets home is shower and change into his regular clothes, the big difference is that his employer pays for his uniforms and the cleaning of them , so there is no added expense to us.

You think he built that park, he didnt lift a single finger "building" that park give credit where credit is due to the engineers, the dpw workers and the water company employees the men who put in countless hours and sweat actually doing the "work".
